During the lockdown caused by the pandemic that crippled the world, I started, like many people around the world, working out of my home in Beirut away from my art studio. I started thinking about how Life could change overnight and how lucky we were before the pandemic. I started longing for my precious time going out and hanging out with friends, going shopping, attending parties, etc. I felt so inspired to paint the “Libanaise” and to depict how most Lebanese women thrive on the "Joie de vivre"  and  are into fashion and looks. That’s how my character “Libanaise” was born.
The "Libanaise" could be me, my neighbor, my daughters, my mother, my sisters; it’s a very broad  character. Nicole Karam

I chose to be amongst the "Libanaise" I've been painting, I depicted myself in a mixed media illustration in my studio the place where I thrive the most when creating art; I wanted to be a part of the character that through my series I tried depicting by shedding light on various Lebanese women in different situations.
